WFUV Names Jeff Kuprycz Technical Director For The Alternate Side

New York, NY—WFUV (90.7 FM, wfuv.org) today announced the appointment of Jeff Kuprycz as Technical Director for The Alternate Side, the noncommercial station’s forthcoming HD Radio music channel and web stream.  Effective immediately, Kuprycz is responsible for operational aspects of the channel, as well as hosting, blogging and other duties.  Kuprycz comes to WFUV from breakthruradio.com, where he was program director and host, managing online operations and content development.  As a student at Hofstra University, he was both music and technology director of the school’s radio station, WRHU.  He joins newly-hired The Alternate Side Content Director Rich McLaughlin in shaping the new channel.

“Being an indie rock fan who spends way too much time at shows in local venues, I hear a lot of grumbling about indie music not having a place on New York radio.  Rich and I are eager to get to work on WFUV’s Alternate Side and change that,” said Kuprycz.

“Jeff and Rich coming on board to launch Alternate Side gives us a powerful 1-2 punch.  We’re all looking forward to hearing the results,” said WFUV Program Director Chuck Singleton.

A companion to WFUV's highly acclaimed flagship programming, which will continue in its present format, The Alternate Side will provide the city’s burgeoning indie music scene with a full-time local radio outlet and connect artists and music lovers in New York and across the globe.  The new channel will be available at wfuv.org and on HD Radio at 90.7 FM in the New York City area beginning in Fall 2008. The Alternate Side is supported in part by The New York State Music Fund, established by the New York State Attorney General at Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors.  It will also feature a unique social networking website, created with support from the Public Media Innovation Fund of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

WFUV is a non-commercial, listener-supported public radio station, licensed to Fordham University for 60 years. Serving nearly 350,000 listeners each week in the New York area and thousands more worldwide on the web, and a leader in contemporary music radio, WFUV offers an eclectic mix of rock, singer-songwriters, blues, world and other music, plus headlines from National Public Radio and local news.
